50 Cent Joins Payday Franchise as Executive Producer On Upcoming TV Series Adaptation
50 Cent is expanding his entertainment empire into the world of high-stakes heists. The rapper, actor, and producer has signed on as an executive producer for a live-action television series based on the popular Payday video game franchise.
The project is being developed by Vice Studios and Starbreeze Entertainment, with 50 Cent attaching through his G-Unit Film & Television banner. Development on the adaptation was first announced in March 2026. No writer, showrunner, network, or streamer has been attached yet, and details on format, timeline, and casting remain under wraps.
In a statement, 50 Cent said: “G-Unit Film & TV has built cinematic crime stories that connect with audiences around the world. Teaming up with Vice Studios and bringing the world of ‘Payday’ to the screen gives us the chance to build something big. This high-energy franchise pushes the heist genre forward.” Starbreeze CEO Adolf Kristjansson echoed the ambition, noting that Payday has always been about “the fantasy of getting away with it” and that the collaboration aims to do the franchise justice without playing it safe.
Jackson has been steadily building his producing resume beyond music. G-Unit Film & TV has delivered multiple seasons of the Power franchise and other projects. He is also attached to the live-action Street Fighter movie playing Balrog. Adding Payday continues a pattern of leveraging his street credibility and storytelling instincts into established IP with strong action and crime elements.
The Payday series has faced commercial ups and downs; Payday 3, in particular, underperformed relative to earlier entries, but the core fantasy of coordinated heists remains distinctive. A well-executed TV version could revive interest in the games while creating a new franchise under Jackson’s banner.
The project is still in early development. Whether it lands as a limited series, multi-season show, or something broader remains to be seen. What is clear is that 50 Cent is treating it as a high-priority opportunity to “leave no room for errors” and push the heist genre forward on screen.
Fans of both the games and 50 Cent's work will be watching closely to see how the masked crew’s next big score plays out in live action.
